Winning at Life
Football season is here! The scent in the air brings back memories. My sisters, brothers and I had the unique opportunity of growing up in the household of a football coach (our Dad) and a supportive, loving wife of a football coach (our Mom). Football is in our blood. Today, my oldest brother carries on this tradition as head football coach at a high school with a strong athletic tradition.
There is no doubt that integri-T is in many ways influenced by a lifetime of wins and losses, pep rallies and teepe surprises, cheers and tears. Several years ago, I wrote a short poem as a gift to my Dad. In a very simple way, it sums up the life lessons learned as the daughter of a football coach. I hope you find some inspiration in it.
Everything I Ever Needed to Know I
Learned as the Daughter of a Football Coach
PRACTICE. PRACTICE. PRACTICE. Persistence always pays off.
FOLLOW THE RULES. In the game, and in life.
BE A TEAM PLAYER. Together everyone achieves more.
BE A CHEERLEADER. Encourage yourself and others. Be positive.
BE A GOOD SPORT. Respect others, respect yourself. Be honest with others, be honest with yourself.
GIVE IT YOUR ALL. No pain, no gain.
HAVE FAITH. Believe. Believe. Believe.
LEARN FROM YOUR MISTAKES. The greatest mistake you can make is not learning from one.
SHOW APPRECIATION FOR OTHERS. Let others know their value.
And, when you have played the game well, but for some reason appear to be defeated, remember
SOMETIMES WHEN YOU LOSE, YOU REALLY WIN!!!
